40 Year Evolution of a Hawaii Solutions Provider
Envision began as a partnership between Tel-A-Com Hawaii, Inc. and Hawaiian Communications, serving Hawaii since 1972. Hawaiian Communications was the first private telephone company in Hawaii and Tel-A-com was founded by Dr. Richard Kelley, CEO Outrigger Hotels, in order to service the Outrigger Hotel’s PBX systems. In the Mid 90’s the company was part of a nationwide voice and data solutions provider called Expanets.
Envision embraced Voip technology in its infancy in the late 90’s, installing the first customer Voip PBX systems in Hawaii. Our expertise in Voip is based on the problem solving of network requirements in these early deployments.
Today as a locally owned and managed voice and data solutions provider, Envision sells and services Voip Telephone Systems, Video Conferencing, Wireless Data Communications, Cable Infrastructure and Data Switching, Routing and Security products from our portfolio of solutions from Mitel, Digium, NEC, Lifesize, Aerohive Networks, Extreme Networks, HP and Cisco.

Brian Malecek – President
With 40 years of industry experience, Brian Malecek has spent over 30 years working within Hawaii’s telecommunications industry. Mr. Malecek is a Chicago native and graduate of Triton Business College. He began his career in 1977 when he relocated to Santa Clara, CA. In 1982 he became a member of the technical staff at ROLM Corporation, a pioneer in large digital switching Computer Branch Exchange (CBX) systems. Brian moved to Hawaii in 1985, and founded Communication Resources, Inc. (CRI) in 1987. By 1999 CRI had secured a substantial client base, and was generating annual revenues in excess of $1M from Professional Services and Outsourcing activities. As President and Co-Owner of Envision, Brian has been responsible for sales and operations, directing the organization through a rapid period of growth in converged voice and data technology.
Brian was identified as one of Hawaii’s 100 “High Technology Leaders”, and awarded the prestigious High Tech 100 award by the Lt. Governor in the first annual Hawaii High Technology forum, 2001.
Pete Swenson – Systems Engineering
Pete’s 38 years of telecommunications experience began with GTE with the installation and site management of GTE Central Offices. Pete joined Tel-A-Com Hawaii in 1986. Pete provides support for Engineering, Sales, and Service. Pete’s recommendations for system design, configuration of advanced voice and data networks, power and environmental requirements, hardware configurations, pricing and project management are included on every major project delivered by Envision.
Eric Motoki – Customer Service Manager
Eric has 30 years experience as a Customer Service Representative, coordinating and managing the installation of VoIP PBX and Hotel VoIP PBX systems. As manager of Envision’s Customer Service Department, Eric’s team supports existing customers in moves, additions and changes for their systems, provides training for both users and system administrators and interfaces with various Local Exchange Carriers (LEC) and services on behalf of customers. Eric’s extensive Hospitality management experience and knowledge of Property Management Systems with emphasis on telecommunication needs has been key to Envision’s success in the Hotel marketplace in Hawaii.
Clayton Ueshiro – Service Manager
Trained on all of our PBX manufacturer’s systems, Clayton has a wealth of knowledge gained from over 30 years experience in the field supporting and servicing PBX systems in Hawaii. As manager of Envision’s Service Department, Clayton’s technical team is ready and available 24/7 should you require us to fix a problem with your PBX system.
George Park – Installation Manager
George has over 30 years telephone system and cabling installation experience in Hawaii. George’s career at Envision began in 1983 as an installer for Tel-A-Com Hawaii. Since 1997, George has managed the Envision Installation team. George’s responsibilities include scheduling, supervision and working closely with the Service Team sharing and assigning resources for projects and service.
Rick Phillips – Director of Sales
Rick has over 30 years experience delivering solutions to Hawaii’s ‘Who’s Who” of businesses. Rick’s career at Envision began in 1982 as an Account Executive selling networked PBX solutions for Hawaiian Communications. Since 1997, Rick has managed the Envision sales team through the advances in technology to gain an estimated 60% of the PBX and VoIP market share in Hawaii. In addition to Sales Management, Rick is responsible for developing marketing tools including, advertising, collateral, promotional videos, web site and technology/product seminars.
Philip Pearson – Application Engineering Manager (In Memoriam)
Philip’s Contributions to Envision until his passing in July of 2018 were fundamental to the success of our company. Philip’s expertise in both communications and information systems design were gained through the hundreds of system installations he managed since joining Tel-A-Com Hawaii in 1986. Mr. Pearson was instrumental in the development of the implementation and quality assurance processes at Envision. Philip was certified on all of the major systems and was responsible for managing our PBX engineering staff and providing training programs for our technical and Customer Service staff. Philip was the leading expert in the state on advanced ISDN diagnostic testing and problem resolution. Philip’s knowledge in Asterisk’s Communications Operating System enabled Envision to select a powerful Voip platform based on Asterisk to deploy in Private Cloud environments.
